Wood look tile

I am so excited to see the floors being started!  This is a wood look tile called American Heritage (color Spice) by Marazzi Tile.  These are 6x36" porcelain plank tiles.  They are being placed at random with a 1/16" grout line.  I am getting very excited to see how it will look in the end when they are all down, grouted and clean!

Lights, mud, and stilts

A few changes have been going on.

Some of the lighting was being moved and we will be changing many of the can lights from the incandescent (on the left) to the new LED lights (on the right).  It looks a bit more streamline, emits a brighter light, and the bulbs last about 50,000 hours while incandescent last about 1,200.  In addition, it is a "greener" option as it uses less energy.

The drywall and mud are the latest jobs going on right now.

It's almost a ceiling again!

Bye bye tube tv built-in, hello flat screen ready wall.  Additional support and electric were added.

Another built-in gone and ready for a flat screen.  (Side note:  I MUST get myself a pair of those stilts!)

There was a low hanging soffit blocking the window and incoming light.  We took out a piece of the soffit here for a brighter look in the master bath.

There was a drop down from the ceiling that we removed only to find that it was there to hide something structural.  We had to rebuilt a new drop down, but this new one does not hang as low as the previous one.

Small Changes, Big Garbage Can

Not many big changes to report on, but a couple of smaller sneak peaks for you...

The electrician has been switching all of the outlets and switches from the cream you see on
the right, to the new white on the left.

These hollow core doors are being removed to be replaced with...

something similar to this.  The new doors will be solid core to reduce noise.

And here is Little Two with his favorite part of the new house....the big garbage can!  This is dumpster #3 and each has been just as exciting as the one before!
